Full Overview
It’s a Wednesday night and, by all appearances, Barcode is the place to be. A diverse post-work crowd gathers at the bar, in the lounge, and at tables on the patio, sipping cocktails like Green Tea Mojitos and Clover Storms (rye, sour mix, apricot nectar). As the night wears on, the heels get higher and the frocks skimpier as happy hour morphs into the dinner hour and then a clubbier late night scene.
The craft cocktails are spun with house-made mixers, juices, and nectars. They have names like Dew Drop (Smirnoff, St. Germaine, and melon syrup among other things) and Brazil 17 (which includes cachaça, lavender-pineapple essence and charred lemon). The wine and beer lists have some surprises too.
Nibbles cover all the bases. A plate piled with crisp, hot cracker bread sizzling with oil and hot peppers makes for a zippy snack to share -- and is well worth the $2 charge. Cracker bread is also a canvas for the roster of pizzas like the Margherita with fresh basil and tomato. Creamy macaroni and cheese gets a lift from bits of smoky pancetta. Crab cake sliders come on shiny brioche buns with horseradish mayo to slather on top. And golden fries are done up Belgian-style, fried twice and served with herb mayo. Look for a new twist on fro-yo for dessert: lush frozen whole milk Greek yogurt with berries and a drizzle of honey that is at once creamy and tangy.
