Full Overview

Step through the doors of Ceiba and you’ll discover a tropical outpost in the midst of downtown DC. The restaurant, a series of rooms, is done up in shades of cocoa, burnt red, ice blue and sage green. Big tropical plants fill the windows and bright murals of flowers, birds and the umbrella-shaped ceiba tree accent the walls. The menu, a Latin-themed amalgamation of Cuban, Peruvian, Argentinian and Brazilian fare encourages grazing. There’s a variety of ceviches, appetizers like beef empanadas, spicy tuna tartare taquitos, grilled octopus and, of course, guacamole. The restaurant’s entrees continue the tour of Central and South America with dishes like a trio of tacos and hot Cuban sandwich at lunch, and whole red snapper Vera Cruz and Brazilian seafood stew at dinner. Serious imbibers will love that the mojitos – including one topped with sparkling wine – caipirinhas and sangria keep the Latin spirit going.
