Full Overview
Walking into Cuba Libre, you’ll feel as though you’ve just entered the courtyard of a building in Havana, circa 1950. Lofty ceilings provide an airy ambience, while potted palm trees, cracked stucco walls and bistro chairs make you forget you’re merely steps from DC’s Chinatown.
The restaurant itself pays homage to Cuba’s heritage, art, music and culinary treasures. The real highlight, the food, emphasizes the flavors and traditions of authentic Cuban dishes. From pulled pork to ropa vieja, rum to Cuban coffee, each course of your meal showcases the best of the country’s cuisine.
With so many distinctive dishes to entice, the restaurant has made it easy for diners to try them all. At several points on the menu, you can opt in for a “flight” or order large or small plates meant to be shared. Flights of ceviches, empanadas or a Plato Gaucho for two mean you can try a little bit of everything. All the more reason to dive right in.
And after dinner, if the rhythm gets you, there’s always the opportunity to shake things up with the in-house Latin entertainment.
