Full Overview
With intricately carved latticed wood panels, striped linen awnings draped above tables and brightly colored glass lanterns hanging about, you know you’re not eating at any old shawarma spot. Since 1979, Lebanese Taverna has served up traditional Middle Eastern cuisine with an emphasis on the spices and flavor combinations that have made the food so popular.
One bite of their hummus, a dip of their yogurt sauce or a mouthful of kafta harra (spiced beef and lamb sausage) will tell you one thing: They don’t skimp on flavor at Lebanese Taverna. Bursts of mint, garlic, za'atar and other herbs or spices come with every dish.
Whether you’re seeking the comfort of lebneh and a shawarma plate or a hearty portion of mouzat (braised lamb shank) or ouzi (stewed lamb), the restaurant satisfies all these cravings.
The restaurant also offers a “Taste of Lebanon” menu meant for large-party dining, making it no surprise that Tanios Abi-Najim, the original owner (and father to the restaurant’s current owners) maintains a motto of, “Good Food Is Enjoyed In Good Company.”
