A Neighborhood Café for All Occasions
Highlights
- The café is known for its juice bar with fresh-squeezed fruit and vegetable combos like Mango Tango (banana, mango, orange, pineapple), Red Zinger (apple, beet, carrot, ginger) and fresh lemonade that can be spiked with mint, passion fruit or strawberry puree.
- The fresh-squeezed juices are used in cocktails like the Pimm’s Cup.
- Rolls are served by a roving waitperson, which means they’re hot.
Good to Know
- Peacock Café is a popular neighborhood spot (especially for brunch), so in warm weather, the patio is often jammed; indoors, go for a table in the back of the curvy dining room that overlooks a landscaped patio.
- The bobotie was inspired by the 2010 World Cup soccer finals in South Africa. It was such a hit, the restaurant kept it on the menu.

Full Overview
Filtered red lighting in the dining room at Peacock Café not only makes the see-and-be-seen crowd look gorgeous, it also adds to the party vibe at this lively Georgetown café, a neighborhood go-to spot for birthdays, girlfriend gatherings, and political tete-a-tetes.
On the menu, there’s a bit of everything for everyone: creative cocktails, small and large plates, Asian and Mediterranean influences, and good old American comfort cooking. Crumb-coated calamari are wonderfully crisp and heaped high over a pool of spicy tomato sauce. South African beef bobotie is a moussaka-like affair with its spicy beef, custardy topping and a dollop of mango chutney. Roasted whole Greek branzino is crisp skinned on a bed of sautéed Swiss chard with roasted purple and white fingerlings and fennel-butter sauce for another layer of flavor. A robust mix of pork and veal meatloaf gets a kick from fresh tomato sauce, and is served with skin-on mashed potatoes, complete with pleasing lumps and a buttery finish. Peacock clearly wants you to eat your veggies: Most plates are piled with nicely sautéed baby zucchini, yellow squash and carrots. Keep it homey for dessert with warm chocolate chip cookies paired with topped with a spot of vanilla ice cream.
