Full Overview
Anella's address might be a little off the beaten bath for some, but take my word for it: this Greenpoint gem is worth the trip.
With lots of reclaimed wood and some partially exposed brick walls, the restaurant has a rustic, slightly rough-around-the-edges feel. A no-frills space, it’s warm and inviting, but the ever-changing seasonal menu is where you’ll want to focus your attention anyway. With just three categories -- starters, pasta and entrees -- Anella’s concise menu doesn’t aim to overwhelm. Instead it turns local and artisanal into memorable dishes that you’ll still be thinking about long after you’ve left. The best advice? Go with a group and order everything.
And by all means, go hungry, since you’ll get a very special surprise when you arrive: a loaf of fresh bread that’s baked (and served!) in a flower pot. Out of this world on its own, it’s even better with a generous swipe of soft butter flecked with sea salt. You’ll want to down the whole loaf, but try to save some for the homemade burrata, a starter that is spot-on. Or do what I did and ask for a second loaf.
