Full Overview
Formerly known as Cichetteria 19, the newly revamped C19 has only improved upon Cichetteria’s strengths and takes the eatery to the next level. Still serving quality homemade Venetian-inspired food, the new seasonal menu emphasizes local ingredients. In fact, C19 was one of the 25 restaurants in the Philadelphia region awarded Slow Food Philadelphia’s Snail of Approval. C19 answers so many wishes of Philadelphia diners: it’s local, shareable Italian, situated in a prime location just off of Rittenhouse Square.
At C19, guests share intimate multi-course meals in the dining room, but you’ll also find a more casual crowd chatting over wine and crispy thin-crust pizza at the bar. As if the spectacular appetizers, homemade pastas and entrees weren’t enough to keep diners coming back, owner Andrea Luca Rossi makes everyone in his restaurant feel like family. Working the room, filleting fish tableside, or simply saying “hello” to each party, Andrea’s Italian charm makes you feel welcome and appreciated, as does the entire waitstaff.
The narrow space is cozy and candlelit, but the vibrant energy of the bar and dining room keeps C19 feeling upbeat. Don’t be surprised if you want to end your meal with an espresso rather than a nightcap; at C19, you’re on European time. And since the ingredients are local, consider the decision to have dessert your contribution to sustainability.
