Full Overview
It’s been said that Philly loves its beer, and City Tap House and its 60 draft beers is good evidence in favor of that notion. Nestled in the Radian apartment complex on UPENN’s campus, the ski-lodge-like City Tap House boasts a 100-foot hammer copper bar and a vast dining room adorned with reclaimed wood that faces an open kitchen. But the best part -- besides the beer, of course -- is the massive 2nd-floor outdoor patio overlooking Walnut Street. Open for most of the year, the 5,500 square-foot open-air space boasts five fire pits where groups can gather.
But having 60 ever-changing beers on tap presents a problem: remembering what styles and breweries you liked, especially when you tried a few 8.5% ABV beers. There’s an answer to that: Tasting Notes. The cards, provided by your server, are a space for your thoughts on up to four beers. Your notes are then entered into a database and your commentary can be accessed on your return trip or in the interim through their website.
The beer-phobic needn’t feel neglected here. City Tap House boasts more than 30 wines and a full bar. You’ll also find an entire menu of solid eats, from wings and burgers to mussels, brick-oven pizzas and daily supper entrees. Whether you’re looking for a beer and a quick bite or a multi-course wine dinner on the patio, City Tap House is a spot worth checking out.
