Full Overview

You know that picky friend who is impossible to take out to dinner? The one who hates condiments and can’t let foods touch on the plate? Bring that person to Jones. It’s a restaurant even fussbudgets will love.  Control freaks feel right at home, too. They can grab a card with scads of little check boxes specifying precisely which ingredients they’d like in a tossed salad.  And those people whose taste buds are stuck in kindergarten are also in luck. Meatloaf, mac-and-cheese, and turkey club sandwiches are all popular items at Stephen Starr’s retro comfort food restaurant.   Jones’ menu is diner-esque and dominated by All-American classics. It’s a place where you can get “Thanksgiving Dinner” year-round. You’ll also find matzo ball soup, jambalaya, pasta, and satay. It’s an offbeat collection of dishes, for sure, but the cooking meets the quality benchmark you can rely on across the board with Starr restaurants. Glimmers of creativity are apparent and worth seeking out. The “Hold the Beef” Burger is a square of irresistible griddle-crisped halloumi cheese topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado and lemon aioli. It’s a major improvement on the usual veggie burger. Portions are big, but don’t skip dessert. For true nostalgia fiends, there’s Duncan Hines Cake (actually made from the classic box mix) topped with homemade buttercream icing.
