Twenty Manning Grill
261 S. 20th St. - Philadelphia, PA 19103
- $$
Like Cheers. Except with Moules Frites. And Manolos.
Highlights
- Seven nights a week, the menu stars one deliciously homey nightly special, ranging from fish tacos to spaghetti Bolognese to a leg of lamb. These are a can’t-miss, especially for sharing.
- A well-edited wine list stars splurges (Cakebread Chardonnay, $83) and steals (Domaine Martinolles Pinot Noir, $35).
- Equally attended to are cocktail choices. House favorites include the delicate white peach Bellini, the not-too-sweet Old Fashioned and Grey Goose Poire with a hint of Lillet Blanc and fresh lime -- the owner’s preferred libation, appropriately named the “Audrey.”
Good to Know
- Seats in the lounge and outside, which are heated on chilly nights, are first-come, first served. But that doesn’t mean they’re always easy to come by, prized as they are for socializing.

Full Overview
What Cheers was to its (fictional) Boston neighborhood is what Twenty Manning Grill is to Rittenhouse Square. In other words, it’s the place everyone in the city’s toniest district seems to end up, no matter if they’re headed to the Orchestra or coming home from the gym, craving ceviche or jonesing for a half-baked chocolate chip cookie sundae.
Restaurateur Audrey Taichman (of the adorable, across-the-street BYOB Audrey Claire, and boutique culinary-school sensation Cook) is responsible for both the casual-chic ambiance and carefully curated menu of international comfort foods.
Under her command, the kitchen gives the same attention to the malted fries and impossibly airy tempura-battered sole (TMG’s fish and chips) as it does to a cloud-like wisp of lavender honey and ricotta beneath a quartet of gold and red beet wedges. Bulging burgers -- including bison, tuna and grass-fed beef -- arrive on rustic planks; mussels come by the aromatic bucketful. By contrast, a trio of mushroom ravioli and toothsome pork potstickers could double as modern art installations.
